Facebook and Reliance launches internet.org in India
  • Facebook has launched internet.org in a tie-up with Reliance Communications in India.
  • With this tie-up, the subscribers of the Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications who have Internet-enabled handsets, now have free access to 38 Websites. The websites can have services like news, music, education, weather and health sites, including Facebook, Wikipedia, and Reliance Astrology. The lone search option available is Microsoft’s Bing. They can be accessed via an Android app.
What is 'internet.org'?
Internet.org is a partnership between social networking service company Facebook and six mobile phone companies (Samsung, Ericsson, MediaTek, Microsoft, Opera Software, and Qualcomm) that aims to bring affordable Internet access to everybody. It is a non-profit organisation launched by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg On 20 August, 2013.


World's biggest solar telescope based in Hawaii, to be launched in 2019
